Questions

Common questions

What are the 14 allergens I have to declare?
Celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, soya, and sulphur dioxide/sulphites. This builder gives you a column for each so you can mark exactly which dishes contain them.
Is an allergen matrix a legal requirement?
You must be able to give customers accurate allergen information for the food you sell. A written allergen matrix is the clearest way to do that and is what most inspectors expect to see — this tool helps you produce one, but you're responsible for keeping it accurate for your recipes.
Does this save my menu?
No — everything happens in your browser and nothing is stored or sent anywhere. Print or save the chart before you close the tab. If you want your allergen matrix kept up to date, versioned and published to a customer-facing page, ProCafe does exactly that — free for 14 days.
How does ProCafe handle allergens?
ProCafe keeps a living 14-allergen matrix with a published, customer-facing version and a 'may contain' state for cross-contamination — updated in one place and always ready to show. Start a free trial to move off the paper chart.
